TrainTally
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 20, 2026
The short version: The TrainTally app does not collect any data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. The app has no server and does not send your information anywhere. Everything you enter stays on your device.
This website is separate. If you subscribe to the newsletter it stores the email address you type, and nothing else. That is the only personal information collected anywhere, and only if you choose to give it.
This policy explains what TrainTally ("the app") does and does not do with your information. It covers both the TrainTally mobile app on iOS and Android, and this website.
Information the app does not collect
TrainTally does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any other identifying information to use it. The app does not include analytics, advertising networks, crash-reporting services, or any other third-party tracking. It makes no network requests to a TrainTally server, because there is no TrainTally server.
Information you create, and where it lives
Everything you enter — exercises, routines, workout history, body-weight entries, settings, and any photos you attach to exercises — is stored in a database on your own device. This information stays on your device. The developer cannot see it, and neither can anyone else, unless you deliberately choose to share a backup file.
Photos
If you add an image to an exercise, the app asks your permission to open your photo library so you can choose one. Only the image you select is copied into the app and stored locally with the rest of your data. The app does not browse, scan, upload, or otherwise access the rest of your photo library.
Backups
The app can create a backup file of your data when you ask it to. That file is written wherever you choose to save or share it — for example, the Files app, a folder on your device, or a destination you pick through the system share sheet. Once you save or share a backup, that file is under your control. No copy is ever sent to the developer or to any online service by the app.
Notifications
Rest-timer alerts are scheduled locally by the app on your device. They do not rely on a push-notification server, and no notification data leaves your device.
The newsletter on this website
This website offers a newsletter. It is entirely optional, nothing on the site requires it, and the app does not use it. If you subscribe, the address you type is sent to Kit, the email service that stores the list and delivers the messages, and it is used for that purpose alone.
Subscribers receive training and health-related tips, news about TrainTally and its releases, and from time to time offers on products and paid features we make ourselves. You can expect a message roughly weekly, and never several a day.
Your address is never sold, rented, or handed to another company to market to you. There is no advertising network involved and no profile is built about you. Every message carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also write to privacy@traintally.io at any time to be removed or to ask what is stored about you. Unsubscribing deletes the address from the list.
Kit records ordinary email delivery information, such as whether a message was opened or a link clicked, which is how the unsubscribe link and delivery reporting work. That applies to the newsletter only. It has no connection to the app, which continues to collect nothing at all.
Third parties
The app does not share, sell, or transmit your information to third parties, because it does not collect or transmit your information at all. It contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party trackers.
The only third party involved anywhere is Kit, which stores the newsletter list described above and delivers those messages. It is used solely for that, and only for people who subscribed. The list is never sold or shared, and no other company markets to you through it.
Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives only on your device, you are always in control of it. You can delete individual items within the app, and uninstalling the app removes all of the data it stored on your device. Keep in mind that uninstalling also removes any backups kept inside the app, so save a backup elsewhere first if you want to keep your history.
Children's privacy
TrainTally is a general-purpose fitness tool. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. It is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. If a future version of the app ever collects data, this policy will be updated to describe exactly what and why, before that version is released.
